Flatlay fun! Composition and design for watercolour​

Flatlays are a great exercise in composition and balance. Illustrating a range of related icons is a great addition to your portfolio. Join me for a jam-packed online class with step by step instructions to help you elevate your designs and your colour choices.

Where do you dream of going? What will you bring? Surfing in Morocco... Art retreat in Tuscany... Food and cooking tour of Vietnam... Photography expedition through India... Hiking in Yosemite National Park... we are going to let our art take us there!

My classes are pre-recorded so you can access them at any time. You can rewatch and work at your own pace. When you need feedback, I'll be ready to answer your questions in the forum.

The class is hosted in Google Classroom making for simple, easy access. The lessons are pre-recorded so that you can learn at your own pace.

Supplies
  • Pencil & eraser
  • Plenty of plain printer/copy paper
  • Ruler
  • To colour your illustration, use whatever you have available. I'll be working with watercolours, but you can use pencils, inks, copic markers, textas or digital tools like procreate.I use a combination of tube, pan, and liquid watercolours,
  • Watercolour paper
  • Brushes. I use round brushes; size 0, 1 & 6.

About the teacher - Hannah Katarski

I love sharing my knowledge with others and have extensive experience in the Arts.
​I hold a Graduated Diploma (Education) as well as a Bachelor Arts Degree and really enjoy teaching!
The projects were simple, but all turned out really pretty, and I learned a lot about layering techniques. Simple concepts that had so far escaped me like being careful to move the "beading" so the edges don't dry and create uneven spots, were like thunderbolt moments.
